nlite, performance and old machine

nlite is a program that which can strip down your MS windows, removing functions and services of it, thus it can improve the speed, response time and so on

although some will only use to predefine some windows settings, such as view mode, background, runonce, the lisence key

I tried to use nlite stripped windows on a PII400MHz/256MB/4.5G notebook, it is not so outstanding when comparing with 'Windows for legacy PCs'

the stripped windows cant be further slim anymore, with around 17x mb of iso, after installation, the boot time and the response time is absolutely slower than WinFLP.

of coz, I install FLP w/o directx, windows media player ......

I cant see any benifit of installing windows media player with version >6.4
it only adds some fancy stuff and nothing at all, I need a player not a fancy stuff

6.4 is all I want, with appropiate codecs, I can enjoy any kind of videos/audios I want, when I need to play a ISO directly, I can use VLC or MPlayer

for my MPlayer build, I use only the mplayer.exe copied from a SMPlayer installation inside vmware, I cant find any nightly build for windows, or you can tell me
SMPlayer is probably the latest one which update frequently

what is the use of WMP >6.4, it just slow down your computer
see software bloat in wiki and u know it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bloat

oh, too far ......
