TurnKey Linux Virtual Appliance

It is a quite young project, founded late 2008

after trying the lamp appliance, (I use the iso live cd version and have it in virtualbox ), it is amazing, you don't need to configure anything, it makes everything ready after boot

the administration is also easy, with the aid of webmin, phpmyadmin, ssh-server, you can configure your server through browser and ssh-client, simply mount your drive and change the apache root path to it and your web is up and run. The apache2 default root path for web is /var/www, I change it though webmin and click apply, then the service will restart, or keep /var/www no change, but make sure the memory is enough for your web files.

Very low memory usage, form the webmin panel, I see it uses only 80 something. More advance practice is mount a network drive or host hard disk for the server. And there is no ntfs write access for mount points.

mm... no wifi, no auto mount, although Turnkey Linux is based on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS , is it stripped down for only LAMP, of course no X.org . and what to be complain for the only hundred fifty something MB iso ?!

what about "oh, doesn't it is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS now ? uh... ", hey man, don't be so demanding , Okay ?
